ELMHURST, Ill. – North Dakota State’s Cheyenne Garcia and Krista Menke earn Summit League Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for their performances Feb. 23-March 1.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cheyenne Garcia, North Dakota State

Cheyenne Garcia earns her first career Summit League Player of the Week award after her performances over the weekend at the University of the Pacific Tournament in Stockton, Calif. Garcia helped the Bison to a 5-0 record, including a 6-5 win over No. 17 Washington Friday. The junior second baseman had back-to-back three-hit games against Pacific and Montana, including two doubles in the win over Pacific. For the week, Garcia hit .579 with four doubles, eight RBIs, one home run and six runs scored.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Krista Menke is named Summit League Pitcher of the Week for the second time in 2015 and for the 12th time in her career after her performance at the University of Pacific Tournament over the weekend. The senior right-handed pitcher struck out a career-high 16 batters in an 8-6 victory over Montana Sunday. She also had 10 strikeouts in a 6-5 win over the 17th-ranked Washington Huskies to go along with a complete game two-hitter against Pacific. For the week, Menke was 3-0 with one save, 39 strikeouts in 23.2 innings and a 1.77 ERA.
