Villanova Softball Update

Dear friends, family, alumni, and fans,

We have officially completed our fall game schedule for 2013. We are into individuals now with the team and working extremely hard to refine our skills. The girls have been eager to get better every day, which is exciting for the coaching staff. We finished the fall with a record of 3-4-1. Our record certainly does not dictate the effort and hard work that our girls have put forth so far. We can promise you that come spring time we will be ready to go! As our season continues on we would like to update you on players and/or classes within our program, so you can receive the behind the scenes information.

We decided to dedicate this update to introduce you to our freshmen class. One thing about this class, that is universal, is that we never have to question their work ethic. They come to practice, put in their time, and are constantly motivated to want to improve daily! So, let’s meet these wonderful freshmen in numerical order:

#1-Chase Snell is from Poway, California. She attended Poway High School and was a CIF Finalist, CIF Semi-Finalist, and two-time CIF Quarter-Finalist. She was a four-year letter winner, Rookie of the Year, two-time Golden Glove Award, led infielders with 0.982 fielding percentage, set school season and career records for double plays, led team in batting average, extra-base hits, and slugging percentage, team Captain, First Team All-Palomar League, Second Team All-CIF San Diego, San Diego Union Tribune Scholar Athlete. Chase played for The Next Level (TNL) coached by Jerry Delamater and plays middle infield. She never turns down a day of shopping, especially for shoes. Loves to go to the beach and never turns down an opportunity for Fro-Yo. Chase is majoring in Comprehensive Sciences (Pre-Med).

#14-Jordan Prutzer is a left-handed, freshman pitcher from Collegeville, Pennsylvania. She is an only child, and her parents are Charlene and Rudy Prutzer. Jordan attended Methacton High School, and was part of the varsity softball team all four years. Due to two knee injuries, she was only able to play in her freshman and senior seasons. During her senior year season (2013), she was awarded with First Team PAC-10 Conference, First Team Pottstown Mercury All-Area Team, First Team Norristown Times Herald All-Area Team, Second Team Philadelphia Inquirer All-Southeastern Pennsylvania Team, and PAC-10 All-Academic Team. Jordan also played travel ball for X-treme Fastpitch for 8 years. In her free time, Jordan loves to spend time with family and friends. She enjoys reading, listening to music, and playing Just Dance. Her favorite foods include pepper poppers and hot wings. Here at Villanova University, Jordan will be studying Comprehensive Science in hopes of becoming a physical therapist.

#16-Lauren Herschberg is from Rancho Santa Margarita, California and went to Trabuco Hills High School. She played travel ball for the OC Elite all throughout high school. Lauren can play both corners and is a catcher as well. Her favorite color is lime green and favorite dessert is mint chocolate chip ice cream. In high school, she was also on the track and field team as a thrower. Her favorite television show is How I Met Your Mother. Lauren is majoring in computer science here at Villanova.

#17-Jessica Angersbach is from Brick, New Jersey. She attended Brick Memorial High School. In 2012, she made 1st team A-South, 2nd team all ocean county, 3rd team all shore conference, team captain, MVP, and coaches award. In 2013, she was a member of 1st team A-South, 1st team all Ocean county, Coaches Award, and a team captain. She led her team in batting average and fielding percentage her junior and senior year. Jess played travel ball for Jersey Intensity Premier KOD. She is a catcher and also plays the corners. Jess is an undeclared major, but wants to study Biochemistry.

#18-Natalia Segovia is from Temecula, California. She attended Temecula Valley High School with a .380 batting average. She played for Temecula Fury 18U- Santos travel ball team. Natalie is a Catcher and 3rd baseman. Her favorite television show is Pretty Little Liars. Her favorite food is French fries, loves to shop at Forever 21. Nat’s favorite movie is Pitch Perfect and favorite color is Purple. Natalia is an undecided major here at Villanova.

#19-Ciara Earrey is from Jacksonville, Florida. She attended Paxon High School for Advanced Studies; it is a public magnet school in Jacksonville. She played on the Florida Storm Gold travel ball team. Ciara is a catcher. Her favorite television show is Pretty Little Liars and she likes all kinds of music! She has a five pound Yorkie named Petey and she claims that he is the only man she needs in her life right now. She is currently an undecided major, but is thinking of majoring in communication.

#21-Sarah Dnistrian is from Colts Neck, New Jersey. She is a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School. During her high school years, she played travel softball for the Jersey Intensity, traveling all around the country to participate in competitive tournaments. She plays first, third base, and outfield. She is obsessed with cheetah print, loves the color pink and will never be caught on the softball field without one of her many hair-bows. Sarah is a computer science major here at Villanova.

#23-Brette Lawrence is a left-handed pitcher and first baseman from Sparks, Nevada. She attended Spanish Springs High School where she earned 3 varsity letters for softball. She was named to 1st Team All-League and 1st Team All Region in 2011, 2012, and 2013. She was also recognized as All Northern Nevada Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013. Brette also played two years of volleyball at Spanish Springs. Her travel softball career began in 2009 for Nevada Lightning, who she played for, throughout its entirety, under her dad and uncle. She also played for the Tennessee Nationals Gold travel softball team in 2012. Her favorite movie is Talladega Nights and her favorite candy is tied between hot tamales and sour gummy worms. Currently, she is undecided in major, but plans to pursue a career within the Villanova School of Business.

These are our eight freshmen that will complete our freshmen class for the 2013-2014 season. We are looking forward to a great season. If you can, try to make it out to some of our spring games to meet our freshmen class in person! Please continue to check our schedule online to keep up-to-date with who we are playing and when. Also, please remember to continue to check your emails for updates throughout our season.
