Walker,Turnier Take American Weekly Softball Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. The American Athletic Conference has announced winners of the league’s weekly softball honors for games ending Mar. 22.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brittany Walker * RF * So. * Tulsa

Walker hit .417 with four extra base hits, five RBIs, a 1.083 slugging percentage and a .533 on-base percentage to lead Tulsa to a 3-2 record, including a three-game sweep of conference foe Memphis. She went 3-for-3 at North Texas, with a home run, a double and two runs and drove in a run against Iowa on Wednesday. Walker had a two-run homer in the opener against Memphis, and an RBI double against the Tigers on Sunday.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Shelby Turnier * Jr. * UCF

Turnier tossed her second career no-hitter and was one walk away from a perfect game in Sunday’s 3-0 win over East Carolina. The junior recorded 13 strikeouts on Saturday and struck out a season-best 14 batters on Sunday. She allowed just one hit all weekend and posted her 19th career shutout in the complete game wins. Turnier became the third UCF pitcher with two career no-hitters on Sunday, joining Mackenzie Audas and Allison Kime.

Went 3-for-3 with a HR and four RBIs at No. 15/13 Baylor, finished 2-for-4 with two walks in a sweep of USF

Lee Ann Spivey * C *Jr. * USF
Finished with seven hits, five RBIs and two home runs last week, had a hit in every matchup and recorded two multi-hit games

Emily O’Donnell * 3B/SS * Sr. * UConn
Hit .348 with two home runs and six RBIs during action at the Louisville Slugger Invitational in Stockton, Calif.

Maddy Schroeder * OF * Sr. * UCF
Paced UCF with a .400 batting average in three games last week, had a hit in every game at East Carolina

Erica Nunn * P * Jr. * USF
Led the USF pitching staff with 13 strikeouts and a 1.09 opponent batting average, finished with a 0.89 ERA over 15.2 innings of work
