WCC Softball Weekly Honors Announced

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pacific sophomore catcher Rachel Sellers and BYU junior pitcher McKenna Bull have been named the West Coast Conference Softball Players and Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Sellers had an impactful weekend for Pacific, hitting .455 with eight RBI despite sitting out one of the team’s five games at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. The sophomore catcher hit safely in each of her four starts. Sellers came up huge in Pacific’s wins with highlights including a walk off single in an 8-0, six-inning run rule victory against Bethune-Cookman and a grand slam home run against George Washington to put the Tigers ahead 7-0. In a narrow 9-8 loss against Binghamton, Sellers scored the Tigers first run of the contest with a sacrifice fly before adding an RBI single in a sixth inning rally as the Tigers took an 8-7 lead into the seventh inning.

In the DeMarini Desert Classic over the weekend, Bull totaled 35 strikeouts in four games played for BYU. She had nine strikeouts in the wins over Hawai’i and Grand Canyon and also in the loss to Colorado State. In the win over Robert Morris, Bull had eight strikeouts. Bull also completed a 4-0 shutout over Grand Canyon. Over the weekend, she had an ERA of 1.57 and allowed just nine walks, including zero against Robert Morris. She came out of the tournament with three wins, adding to her 5-2 record on the season.
