Wisconsin, Nebraska and Minnesota Earn Weekly Softball Honors

Player of the Week

Michelle Mueller, Wisconsin
Sr., 3B, La Crosse, Wis./La Crosse Logan

• Batted .714 with five hits, four RBI, two runs scored, one home run and a pair of walks in leading Wisconsin to a weekend sweep over Purdue
• Posted an .800 on-base percentage and 1.286 slugging percentage, and tallied two multi-hit performances
• Drove in both of Wisconsin’s runs and drew one walk in Friday’s 2-1 victory over the Boilermakers, with an RBI double in the first inning and a solo home run in the fourth frame
• In Friday’s nightcap, collected an RBI and scored one run in a 6-5 win
• Plated one run on two hits in Saturday’s series finale, helping Wisconsin extend its winning streak to a school-record 13 games
• Has posted 49 total RBI, tied for Wisconsin’s single-season record
• Collects her third career Big Ten Player of the Week honor and second this season

Pitcher of the Week

Tatum Edwards, Nebraska
Sr., RHP, Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta

• Picked up two complete game wins over host Michigan State last weekend, pitching 13.0 innings without conceding a run
• Struck out 11 batters and did not allow a base runner to advance past second base on the weekend
• Struck out four batters in Friday’s series opener, a 2-0 Husker win
• Recorded seven strikeouts and scattered just two hits in Sunday’s series finale, as Nebraska stretched its winning streak to 10 games
• Wins her fifth career Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor

Freshman of the Week

Sara Groenewegen, Minnesota
P/IF, White Rock, B.C./Elgin Park Secondary

• Batted .400 with four RBI and recorded a no-hitter in the circle during Minnesota’s weekend sweep over Penn State
• Tallied a no-hitter in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, striking out eight batters in the Gophers’ run rule victory, and collected one hit and one RBI from the plate
• Tallied three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in three runs in Saturday’s nightcap
• Saturday’s win improved her season record to 12-1 and secured her seventh victory in conference play, which ranks third in the Big Ten
• Earns her third Freshman of the Week honor
