Top Players from Thursday: 2018 PGF Nationals

Ashley Vellejo (2020)
Texas Bombers 16 Gold Jones (McNeese)

Tossing all seven innings for the Texas Bombers Gold, Ashley Vallejo only gave up one run, none of which that were earned in their morning game. Pitching 88 across the plate, she tallied four strikeouts and walked one. Throwing over half of her pitches as strikes, Vallejo led her team to an early victory.

Regan Krause (2020)
Beverly Bandits Premier Tyrrell 16U (Illinois)

Starting and ending with no earned runs for the Beverly Bandits was Regan Krause. In the circle, she struck out six, walked only two, and gave up one run in her 100 pitches. Throwing hard with a mixture of speeds, Krause showed how reliable she is with a softball in her hand. Sneaking past their opponent, the Beverly Bandits won their winner’s bracket game by one run.

Aaliyah Ortiz (2020)
Texas Bombers 16U Gold Jones (McNeese)

Going 3-3 at the plate in the Bombers Gold second game of the day, Aaliyah Ortiz had a day. Earning a single, a double, and an RBI, Ortiz made a significant impact on her team yesterday. Displaying her patience at the plate in their first game, she walked herself to put the winning run across the plate.

Aynslie Furbush (2020)
Athletics Mercado 16U (Ole Miss)

Contributing two out of the three runs scored by the Athletics Mercado, Aynslie Furbush went 2-3 on the day. She worked her counts at the plate and picked the pitches she wanted to hit very carefully. Furbush got the first run of the game with a home run over center field and also added an RBI.

Abby Doerr
Beverly Bandits Premier Tyrrell 16u (Oregon)

Showing her strength and accuracy behind the plate for the Beverly Bandits Abby Doerr brought her A-game last night. Tossing a runner out after they rounded second base too far, she threw a bullet from home to relieve her team from a potential bases-loaded situation. With a bat in her hand, Doerr went 2-3 on the night.
