Akron Racers Top Dallas Charge

Akron-Racers

McKinney, TX – (June 20, 2016) – The Dallas Charge league losing streak stretched out to nine as they fell 7-0 to the Akron Racers Monday night.  Sarah Pauly went the distance for the Racers, allowing just four hits.  She struck out six.  She improved to 2-0 on the season.

Rookie Cheridan Hawkins got her first NPF start in the circle for the Charge, throwing five and two-thirds innings.

Neither team recorded a hit until the sixth inning when Akron opened the game up with four runs on four hits.  Taylor Schlopy doubled in A.J. Andrews who had walked.  It was the first hit of the game.  Sam Fischer and Shellie Robinson each followed with doubles pushing the margin to three.  A single by Griffin Joiner brought home the fourth run of the inning and chased Hawkins from the circle.  Compton threw three pitches in relief to get the Charge out of the inning.

Akron added three more runs in the final frame, two coming from a Schlopy blast to left.  The Charge could not mount a series challenge in their last at bat and the game ended 7-0.

Taylor Gadbois had two of the Charge four hits.

Hawkins took the loss.  She allowed four runs, fanned one and walked four.

The Charge fell to 4-10 on the season.  Akron improved to 8-5.  The two will face off again tomorrow night to conclude the two game set.
