Emily Allard collected three hits, sparking Chicago Bandits to a 7-2 victory in seven innings over Akron Racers on Friday at Rosemont, IL.
She tripled in the first inning and singled in the third and fourth innings.
Michelle Gascoigne got the win for Chicago Bandits thanks to seven strikeouts. Gascoigne allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks over seven innings.
Nerissa Myers had a hot bat for Akron Racers. Myers went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. She homered in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Rachele Fico couldn’t get it done in the circle for Akron Racers, taking a loss. She lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
In the bottom of the first, Chicago Bandits grabbed the early lead, 1-0. Allard kicked things off for Chicago Bandits with a triple. A stolen base then moved Danielle Zymkowitz from first to second.
The lead stayed with Chicago Bandits after the third, when it scored four runs on an RBI double by Brittany Cervantes, a sacrifice fly by Kristen Butler, and two singles.
One run in the top of the sixth helped Akron Racers close its deficit to 7-2. An error gave Akron Racers life. The Akron Racers threat came to an end when Gascoigne finally got Taylor Schlopy to fly out.
