Great game from PA Rebellion’s Bianca Mejia not enough in 6-5 loss to Akron Racers

Bianca Mejia hit two home runs, but it wasn’t enough to carry PA Rebellion to a win on Monday, as PA Rebellion fell to Akron Racers 6-5 at Akron, OH in seven innings.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

Akron Racers pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. Akron Racers scored on an RBI single by Kelley Montalvo off Anna Miller, scoring Nerissa Myers.

Kelley racked up two RBIs on two hits for Akron Racers.

Hannah Campbell was in control on the rubber. PA Rebellion managed just two hits off of the Akron Racers’ pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out three during her 4 1/3 innings of work.

Anna was the game’s losing pitcher. She lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed two runs.

The top of the third saw PA Rebellion take an early lead, 4-0. PA Rebellion got a spark in the form of a Samantha Garcia single, before before Bianca homered, bringing home Brittney Lindley and Samantha. PA Rebellion pushed more runs across when scored on a solo home run by Courtney Liddle.

Akron Racers scored two runs in the third inning, and then followed it up with two more in the fourth. In the third, Akron Racers scored on a single by Charlotte Morgan.

Akron Racers pushed across one run in both the fifth inning and the seventh. In the fifth, Akron Racers scored on an RBI double by Kelley, plating Taylor Schlopy.
