Madison Shipman helps USSSA Pride down Akron Racers 4-2

Madison Shipman went 1-2 and hit a home run, sparking USSSA Pride to a 4-2 victory in six innings over Akron Racers on Monday at Akron, OH.

She homered in the third inning.

Cat Osterman struck out 11, paving the way for a USSSA Pride win. Osterman allowed two earned runs, three hits and two walks over five innings.

It was a good day at the plate for Akron Racers’ Charlotte Morgan. Morgan went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. She homered in the first inning.

Lisa Norris was charged with the loss. She lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

Akron Racers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A solo blast by Morgan started the inning off. Akron Racers pushed more runs across when Cherry scored on an RBI single by Kelley Montalvo.

USSSA Pride never trailed after scoring two runs in the fourth on a two-run double by Caitlin Lowe.
