Scrap Yard Dogs Impress in 9-1 over Dallas Charge

Aurora, CO – June 30, 2016 – The Dawgs faced the Charge for the final game of the series in Colorado.

The Dawgs started the second inning off with a bomb by Meagan May Whitley to put a run on the board. Amanda Fama and Kiki Stokes followed with singles and then Emily Crane went yard with a three run homer to put the Dawgs up (4-0). Britt Vonk singled to put a Dawg on base, followed by a two run homer by left fielder Emilee Koerner to add another two runs on the board (6-0).

Cheridan Hawkins started in the circle for the Charge, but Jill Compton entered in relief in the second inning.

The hits continued in the fifth inning with a double by Vonk to score two runs (8-0) and Andi Williamson entered the circle to finish the game for the Charge. Breja’e Washington earned a base hit that scored one run in the sixth inning for the Dawgs (9-0).

Monica Abbott was relentless in the circle and the Dawgs defense was calm, cool, and collected throughout the game and did not seem phased by Lauren Haeger’s solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. The Dawgs beat the Charge by a final score of (9-1) and take the series.

The Dawgs head back home to face the Rebellion and the Racers July 2nd through July 5th at the Scrap Yard Complex.
