Strong pitching leads USSSA Pride past Chicago Bandits 8-4

Olivia Galati held Chicago Bandits scoreless for 5 2/3 innings to boost USSSA Pride to a 8-4 victory.

Olivia allowed three hits, no walks and struck out three.

Chicago Bandits jumped out to an early lead, but it was unable to hang on. Chicago Bandits led until the ninth inning, but USSSA Pride took the lead back on a passed ball.

Madison Shipman led USSSA Pride’s offensive threat, as she got on base four times in the game. She doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the second and ninth innings.

Estela Pinon couldn’t get it done in the circle for Chicago Bandits, taking a loss. She lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed four runs.

In the top of the third, USSSA Pride grabbed the early lead, 1-0. After Caitlin Lowe singled, USSSA Pride kept the pressure on Chicago Bandits pitching, as GiOnna DiSalvatore singled, plating Caitlin.

Chicago Bandits quickly matched USSSA Pride’s strong inning with a four-run inning of its own in the third. Chicago Bandits scored on a hit by pitch, a sacrifice fly by Kristen Butler, a groundout by Amber Patton, and an RBI single by Alisa Goler.

USSSA Pride tied the game in the sixth on an RBI single by Natasha Watley that scored Bridgette DelPonte.

The game’s last lead went to USSSA Pride thanks to a ninth inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on a two-run double by Kelly Kretschman.
