Auburn, Tennessee neutral site game cancelled

The Parks & Recreation Department in Columbia, Tenn., announced this morning that the 3rd Annual MidState Classic was cancelled due to weather. Local schools, Trevecca Nazarene University and Columbia State Community College were scheduled to play at 3 p.m. followed by the marquee matchup between No. 3 Auburn and No. 15 Tennessee.

After waking up to snow flurries and wind chill temperatures in the 20’s, the event manager along with the city of Columbia and coaching staffs decided it would be best to cancel.

Instead, Auburn and UT will host a joint practice, home run derby and autograph session starting around 6 p.m. at Ridley Sports Complex in Columbia. The game will not be rescheduled.

According to Parks Director Mack Reagan, the city sold more 4,000 tickets in just a couple weeks and could’ve sold a thousand more if the park could hold that many people.

Next up for the Vols is a weekend series in Fayetteville, Arkansas against the Razorbacks while Auburn will travel to Murfreesboro on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. contest against Middle Tennessee State before heading to Florida for the USF Tournament.

Information about refunds is pending and will be posted when available.
