Riverside—UC Riverside Head Softball Coach Linda Garza announced today that four players have signed national letters of intent (NLI) to join the Highlanders for the 2015 season: Chelsey Holley, Jenna Curtan, Rebecca Faukner, and Tayler Misfeldt.

“I am very excited about our signees and would like to thank my assistants, Coach Cox and Coach Sievers, for their countless hours on the recruiting trail helping land this great class,” Garza exclaimed. “Each player has all the qualities we look for in prospective student-athletes.”

Chelsey Holley is a catcher from Anderson Union High School in Anderson, California. She is a three-time all-league selection and was named League MVP last season. Holley guided her team to two Northern Athletic League Championships and two Section Championships.

“Chelsey adds power to the plate, and has the potential to leave UCR as one of the best power hitters in school history,” Garza continued. “She has a quality arm and will work great with our pitching staff.”

Rebecca Faukner is a pitcher from Carlmont High School in Belmont, California. She was named to the first-team all-league on two occasions and helped her squad win the Peninsula Athletic League in 2012 and 2013.

“Rebecca is a crafty south paw with great size and movement,” Garza explained.

Tayler Misfeldt is a pitcher from Tracy High School in Tracy, California. She was named San Joaquin Athletic Association Outstanding Pitcher in 2013.

“Tayler is a power pitcher who knows how to get batters out,” Garza stated. “She and Rebecca are both winners in the circle who will fight, compete, and complement one another. I can’t wait for Coach Cox to start working with them on a daily basis.”

Jenna Curtan is an outfielder from Woodcreek High School in Roseville, California. She is an all-metro and all-league selection in each of her three seasons with the Timberwolves.

“Jenna can flat out roam the grass,” Garza said. “She gets great reads in the outfield, has a solid arm, and is a team leader. Jenna will add speed on the bases and has the tools to be a true leadoff hitter for our team.

“We are proud to have these four student-athletes as part of our future,” Garza concluded. “It is a great time to be a Highlander.”
