Jay Miller Named Hofstra Head Coach
Jay Miller is back as a College Softball Head Coach. Miller was named Head Coach at Hofstra on Friday replacing Larissa Anderson who left the Pride on May 26 to take the same position with Missouri.
Miller who is in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame, was a Head Coach at Missouri from 1987-2002. Miller coached the Tigers to two Women’s College World Series, five NCAA Tournament appearances and three conference championships.
Miller spent 2002-2011 at the helm in Mississippi State, posting a 295-253 record and leading the Bulldogs to six NCAA Regionals, highlighted by a regional finals appearance at Texas in 2005.
Miller most recent spots include five years on the staff at Louisville, first as a volunteer assistant before being named a pitching coach in 2014. The Cardinals advanced to four NCAA Regionals in his time there and took home the AAC Tournament championship in 2014. Most recently, he has served as the associate head coach at Rutgers since 2016.

A special thanks also goes out to Hofstra President Stuart Rabinowitz and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr., whose vision for the program made this position so attractive to me. I look to continue to build upon the great Hofstra Softball tradition that was built by Hall of Fame coach Bill Edwards and continued by Larissa Anderson. Along with Associate Head Coach Julie Meyer, we hope to continue the great history of Hofstra Softball being the top program in the northeast and one of the nation’s finest.
Julie Meyer, who was an assistant at Hofstra for four years, was promoted to associate head coach.
